Have you ever reached a point in your life when feel like super grande changes are coming?
That’s where Patrick and I are at now. We’re debuting two wallpaper and accessory lines at Lowe’s Home Improvement Stores in May (yes, this year May!), yesterday I signed on for my fourth book (a follow up to Crafty Diva!) and today Patrick decided to take a break from his band, The Rastafarmers!!! He joined a popular reggae band from Chicago that has moved here.
They’re called Ultamaxx and they are sooo good! Patrick will be singing lead vocals. This was a scary move for him, he has had his band for more than 15 years! But he really needed a change and a breather from leading a band! For those of you in AZ, I’ll keep you posted of the shows in town.
All these exciting things have us scared. In one way it feels like we are finally on the cusp of something BIG, and on the other hand we joke about being in our rocking chairs, toothless and senile at age 90 saying to each other: “Honey, I think we are finally on the cusp of something BIG!”
Maya wants me to add that she has a new venture around the corner too – she has her first softball practice on Wednesday. She is a newbie to organized sports (especially softball), but we’re practicing with her to help her get ready! “Watch out for the pop fly!” Put your glove down to catch that grounder!” “Don’t go for the high ones!” Now we just have to get DeAngelo involved in something new and adventurous.
On another note, here are some fun stories I worked on this week for work:
Crafting for the Soul
Midnight Chow Boys
Raquel Castro, from Jersey Girl
Charlie Kaufman, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed
House of Sand and Fog (DVD)
The ultra fantastic “pinch me” highlights of the past week were getting to sit down face to face with Nia Vardalos for her new movie “Connie and Carla” and with The Rock for his new film, “Walking Tall”! I’ll post links to the interviews when the movies open and the stories are posted on azcentral.com .
Remember last week I was so paranoid worrying about if it would be a good week or a bad week? I learned not to think about it, just let it happen!
OK, I’m off to bed. Tomorrow is Maya’s FOURTH birthday party in three days. We have a big family and she has lots of friends so we break it up according to little groups. Talk about cake and ice cream overload…
