Hooked on embroidery

Last week I dived into Jenny Hart’s new Stitch It Kit. It comes with two tea towels, so I used one for the cake, shoe, lipstick and handbag pattern that came with the kit, and went to town on my split stitches.

Now I know how Jenny got hooked on this art form. It’s so relaxing, almost mesmerizing. By zeroing in on each little stitch, it makes you forget about any and everything else going on. Before I knew it, my tea towel was done. Today I went out and bought some shimmery cloth napkins and I’m going to embroider them and make toss pillows to give as Christmas gifts.

I’m so excited, that tonight I packed up a little travel-sized embroidery bag with supplies so I can take it wherever I go. Little pockets of free time pop up all day, and I can use them to whip out some stitches. Like when dinner is cooking on the stove or when I’m waiting for the movie to start for a screening or if I’m car pooling.
I wish I didn’t need to use my hands when I brush my teeth – that’s two solid minutes twice a day where I could be embroidering!

Anyway, I’m addicted now. I’ll post pictures of my finished pillows when I’m done!
peace, respect & glitter.
