Helena Bonham Carter wants a signed copy…

This week has been so surreal…

My book came out Tuesday. It rocked. Lots of interest from BIG press, great feedback from people who went out and bought it on the first day. The highlight of all of it was yesterday at lunch.

I was chomping away at an Italian restaurant downtown when my agents conference called me to say congrats and shower praise upon my eardrum and spirit. I held back tears when one of them informed me that a certain gorgeous and very cool English movie star – Helena Bonham Carter (!!!) requested a copy of my new book – and one of my previous ones. They Fed Exed it out to her asap.

Another thing that I’m TRULY thrilled at is that I’ve received all kinds of emails from people of ALL races who love Latino-themed crafts. This was my theory all along and I’m happy to see that it’s true.

Enough about that. Check this out this press release. It came across my email today. Blew my mind!

WOMAN TAKES TENS YEARS TO CROSS-STICH A REPLICA OF SISTINE CHAPEL. CLAIMS WORLD RECORD FOR LARGEST CROSS-STITCH
(Raleigh, North Carolina) It took the great artist Michelangelo a mere four years to paint the ceiling of Rome’s Sistine Chapel in the early 1500s.
Half a millennium later, it has taken Joanna Lopianowski-Roberts nearly ten years to cross-stitch a replica of Michelangelo’s original. Roberts, 41, started the project in October, 1995 because she was looking for a challenge. “When I came across a picture of the Sistine Chapel, I realized that replicating it in cross-stitch would be a worthy project.” It took her nearly ten years and 2,872 hours to stitch the piece, which includes 628,296 stitches in 1809 different color combinations. This does not include the near 700 hours it took to design it in the first place.

See the picture here!”. Joanna Lopianowski-Roberts’ piece is on show in the 17th Needle Arts Exhibit, in Austin, Texas, near her home in Junction, Texas. She has a book out on it too and you can see it at LuLu.com. Way to go Joanna, sti
