Thanks, Tori Spelling, Chicken Soup

Wow! I never knew there were so many Pineapple Upside-Down cake recipes out there! Thank you so much for sending them and for being so nice to Patrick!

I’m going to go with my friend Robrt’s recipe. Only because I’m making it from scratch and he promised to stand vigil by the phone in case I call with any emergency questions. I’ll post some pictures of how it went. Today we (the kids and I) asked Patrick what he wanted for his birthday dinner. I was expecting something fancy, maybe going out to a restaurant or a five-course Mexican dinner – but no. He wants:

Pete’s Fish & Chips. So basically we are having battered shrimp and pineapple cake for Patrick’s birthday. I think it sounds like fun. However, in my mind I know he is just trying to go easy on me. He is a bit worried about me making the pineapple upside-down cake from scratch and got even more freaked when I asked if I could put chocolate chips in it. Of course I would not do that to his favorite birthday cake. Although, maybe I’ll drizzle my own piece with chocolate sauce…

This week I started working again on my novel. Last month, I stopped because I got stuck on my main character. She needed more of a juicy backstory. It finally came to me recently and I’ve been typing non-stop and I love it so much, I hope book editors feel the same way! I absolutely HAVE to turn it in by the end of the month because our busy season begins in September and I’ll never have time. Plus, I’ve been asked to think about a mystery series concept and I want to finish this book so I can dive into that project. I’ve been typing so much this week that I’m wearing an Ace bandage on my left wrist at this moment because I had sharp shooting pains in it today.

Also, today I made this week’s craft project and I had such a blast that I may have to make them to sell on my web site! I’ll post the pictures up at the end of the week. Just wait until you see it!!!!

Before I head off to greet my pillow for the night, I want to say THANKS to Becky Hancock, owner of St. Theresa’s Textile Trove, a fabulous fabric store in Cincinatti, Ohio.

Every so often she will send me a box of remnants and goodies. Just about all the fabrics I’ve used in my projects and in my books have come from her. Today the UPS guy came and dropped off a 30 pound box. OMG! Talk about a treasure trove! So I want to send her a shout out for that, it means so much and I’m sending her good vibes for being so sweet! You must visit her store!

If you are super skinny and love fashionable celebrity leftovers, I just got word that Tori Spelling has a bunch of clothes for sale on eBay.

Last December I had an essay published in Chicken Soup for the Latino Soul. I loved the experience because the editors aren’t looking for award-winning writers. They want everyday people with great stories. If you have a whopper to share, my best advice is to sit down and type it out as if you were telling it to a friend. If you want it to be considered, the editors are on the hunt for essays on the following topics:
