Here are some things I’ve been wanting to post about, but haven’t had time. Well, now I have an afternoon to spare so here goes!!
1. Vickie Howell’s new yarn line!
The collection is by South West Trading Company and is broken down into three kick ass categories:
CRAFT: CRAFT is 35% Milk Fiber and 65% Organic Cotton. Named after crafty people!
ROCK: ROCK is 40% SOYSILK/ 30% fine wool/ 30% HEMP. Colors named after rock stars.
LOVE: LOVE is 70% Bamboo /30% Silk. Colors named after movie couples.
I’m a softie for CRAFT. Know why? Because Vickie named one of the colors after me!!! It’s called “Chica” and it a bright, in-your-face fiery red. I likee.
…speaking of Vickie, she is hosting a Super Bowl Sunday Knit In. Check out her web site for the yarn, the Knit In, her upcoming book tour and gobs of other cool knitty things.
2. The new issue of Adorn Magazine is out!
I picked up a preview copy when I was at CHA and let my just tell you this copy is stuffed – no bursting with juicy ideas that are so cool you will weep with joy. I love the Shrinky Dink Tattoo Charms. I was also giddy about meeting editors Christina and Linda at the show 🙂 You’ve done a fantastico job, chicas.
3. While you are at it, check out Get Creative Magazine as well!
They are based out of Australia, but distributed here in the U.S. so we can all enjoy it too.
4. Knit lit.
Have you heard about this? There seems to be a sprout of new fiction books that have knitting as the central theme. This book, The Friday Night Knitting Club, has already been optioned for a film starring Julia Roberts. It is dubbed as “How to Make an American Quilt-meets-The Joy Luck Club. Um…I’m SO sold. I’m going to buy a copy tonight. Here are some other knit lit books. BTW, my goal is to start a crafty lit genre 🙂 We shall see…

– Knitting: A Novel
– A Deadly Yarn: A Knitting Mystery
