Inspiring quotes for Thanksgiving crafts

Here are some inspiring quotes for Thanksgiving crafts. But first…Thanksgiving.

Whew. Deep breath here. It’s going to be a rough holiday season without my dad around.
However, I know he would want my family to make the rounds on his behalf. I know he is watching from above, so I’m going to do my best to be strong in his honor.

I’ve chosen some of my favorite quotes to share on this Thanksgiving day. They are dedicated to my mom and dad. Other people may have strung together the words, but my parents showed me these lessons in everyday life.

I hope the quotes inspire you as much as they do me. And for all of you out there who have lost a loved one too, I’m sending you a warm hug right now…

Alrighty, on to the quotes!

If you can’t be content with what you have received, be thankful for what you have escaped.

Some people are always grumbling because roses have thorns;
I am thankful that thorns have roses.
– Alphonse Karr

Let us rise up and be thankful, for if we didn’t learn a lot today, at least we learned a little, and if we didn’t learn a little, at least we didn’t get sick, and if we got sick, at least we didn’t die; so, let us all be thankful.
— Buddha

As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them.
– John Fitzgerald Kennedy

Be thankful for what you have; you’ll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don’t have, you will never, ever have enough.
— Oprah Winfrey

Gratitude is something of which none of us can give too much. For on the smiles, the thanks we give, our little gestures of appreciation, our neighbors build their philosophy of life.
— A. J. Cronin

People, even more than things,
have to be restored, renewed, revived,
reclaimed, and redeemed;
never throw out anyone.
– Audrey Hepburn

You cannot do a kindness too soon
because you never know how soon it will be too late.
– Ralph Waldo Emerson

Blessed are those that can give without remembering and receive without forgetting.
— Author Unknown

Life is one big road with lots of signs. So when you riding through the ruts, don’t complicate your mind. Flee from hate, mischief and jealousy. Don’t bury your thoughts, put your vision to reality. Wake Up and Live!
– Bob Marley

P.S. (Dad, if you are reading from a cyber cafe in Heaven, I love you. Happy Thanksgiving, we miss you!)

  1. Oh, Kathy, this is beautiful! Twenty-one years ago my family suffered the unexpected death of my Grandma on Thanksgiving Day. I think of her daily and miss her so much that my heart aches! Thanksgiving is a beautiful day to celebrate with the family around us, but I know the sadness that stings on these Holidays, in particular, for those loved ones that are watching us from Heaven and no longer sitting at our table. Although I do believe they are around us all the time, we miss them!
Thank you for sharing the quotes…I tweeted you one yesterday. From my family to yours…Happy Thanksgiving!

  2. My dad passed in 2005, but his birthday was on Nov. 25th. That makes Thanksgiving particularly poignant.

He would have been 78 this year.

So, I say, with all the love in my heart, I’m with you, sister.

    Big hug!

  3. Happy Thanksgiving!

I can’t say I know how you feel about your dad because my parents are both living, but I will say a prayer that your heart will be comforted this holiday season.

On Friday, 11/27 @ 9:00 pm, my next posting will issue and there’s something there for you. ♥

  4. Thank you for sharing! I lost both my parents around this timeof year and it is always difficult. Like Anna stated though I truly believe that they are always with us. It doesn’t make it easier but because of our loved ones we are who we are. Today I am grateful for blogs because yours reminded me today that I am not alone. Love the quotes!

  5. Thank you for sharing such inspirational quotes. A few of them I found particularly touching and just the kind of thing I need to focus on right now. I’ll be stitching them up shortly to hang and my wall as a reminder 🙂
(Holy guacamole- the word verification thing says- Meattime. What is that all about, LOL)
