It’s a list of all my movie reviews from my former newspaper gig. I used to HATE to write movie reviews, they were so difficult for me. I hated being critical about anything artsy. I’d think of all money, time and emotion that went into the making of each movie, and I couldn’t imagine cutting it down. Who was I to judge???
Luckily I was just a secondary reviewer, our main reviewer was super tough and loved to sink his teeth into shredding movies. He had the pleasure of editing my Pollyanna overviews. He used to laugh in frustration (oxymoron, but I swear he did!) because every time I’d write something critical about the film, in the next graph I’d say something nice to make up for it. He’d say: “Kathy, you are not hurting the movie’s feelings! It is just a thing. Go for it, rip it up, that’s what you get paid to do!”
Ah, memories! Rest in peace, Bill, thank you for being such a fun co-worker and inspiring writing coach! I am eternally grateful!
Kathy 🙂
Love & light,
