Art Unraveled 2010, part one

This past Friday I taught four mini-classes at Art Unraveled, here in Phoenix. It is a national mixed-media art conference that celebrates emerging art trends and techniques. The line-up is incedible, teachers come from all over the country to teach classes that involve torching, shredding, pounding, ripping and splashing paint every which way. People come and stay for the whole week and take sometimes up to two classes a day, several days in a row!

And then I come along with 30-minute paper bag flower classes.

Even though my classes were full, at first I was kind of embarrassed to be sharing such a simple project, but then the students were actually relieved that after a day of intense art workshops, they could relax and make something fun, fast and easy. And sparkly!

This nice lady on the left came in with a bacon-themed Band-Aid on her finger because she had accidentally hammered it minutes earlier in her jewelry making class. I asked if she had seen a doctor, and she was like “No way, I’m not stopping from making art!” I loved that she was so dedicated!

This Tuesday I have my art apron class, check back for more pictures!

Peace, love, and glitter!
Kathy 🙂

P.S. Check out my new novel!

Love & light,
