DIY Painted Leather Rings

A dear friend of mine recently dropped of a huge box of leather scraps at my house. She knows I love scraps like nobody’s business! I was so overwhelmed, I didn’t know where to start or what to make. So I eased into it with these painted leather rings. They are really easy to make and look like you could buy them at a boutique. Here’s how to do it:

Supplies: Leather scraps, Tulip® Soft® Fabric Paint, Tulip® 3D Fashion Paint, a craft knife, heavy duty scissors, gems and embellishments for the center of the rings, ring backs.

Paint the leather with the Soft Paints, and add accent colors.

Cut the edges however you want. I did a lot of mini-snips and then worked the leather to get it soft looking. What I love about the Soft Paints is that they stay on and don’t crack or flake off!

Next, add a healthy dot of 3D Paint and apply your gem. Let dry for 30 minutes or so.
Don’t forget to glue a ring to the back so you can wear it! You can also make pendants and cuff bracelets!
