These DIY candy cane hearts come at the perfect time. If you have leftover candy canes from the holidays, now you can find a new use for them. But you can also use them for Christmas too.
We’re turning them into yummy, minty-fresh hearts. They are like peppermint heart “chips.”

Ideas for candy cane hearts
- Use for after dinner treats.
2. Place each one in a little cello bag with chocolate kisses.
3. Use them in a candy tray or sweet version of a charcuterie board.
4. Stand them upright as cupcake toppers.
5. Drizzle with melted chocolate.
6. Fill up a glass candy jar with them.
Fun project to make for your upcoming holiday party! These are thin peppermint hearts made from candy canes!
Supplies for candy cane hearts:
Mini candy canes
Cookie sheet
Parchment paper
Heart cookie cutter
Directions:
Preheat the oven to 300 degrees.
Open the candy canes and place them like a heart on the cookie sheet.
Bake in oven for few minutes until they’ve melted into a thin sheet. Remove from oven (wearing mitts!) and quickly use the cookie cutter to cut into them.
Let cool, then snap away the excess from the cut out design.

Candy Cane Hearts with chooclate
This video is themed for Christmas, but you could easily transform these for Valentine’s Day. Use white chocolate and red sprinkles, maybe heart sprinkles too!
Ideas to use up leftover candy canes
Okay, we would we have leftover candy canes? We hang them on the tree, so there’s that. And they just make such cute decorations because the bold white and red stripes. I love these ideas here because they are smart and useful!
Candy Cane hearts without using the oven
Why didn’t I think of this? Keep the candy canes in the wrappers and simply use a glue dot to connect them. So smart!

What an awesome idea! Since you’re scoring them into hearts, I would imagine that you could use any shape. How many other hard candies will this work for? These would make such a cool addition to my current project of candy jewelry. Thanks for the idea!
