I found a package of white bandanas at the bottom of my fabric stash and decided to give them a makeover. Here is how to make Frida Kahlo stenciled bandanas. Perfect to make in July to celebrate her birthday!
I cut a stencil of Frida and then used Tulip Fabric Sprays (neon) to bring them to life. Now I can use them in collages, quilts, handmade purses, etc. I can even just give them away like this!
Pre-wash your bandanas.
Iron so they are smooth.
Tape paper around the stencil to prevent over spray.
Set the stencil on the fabric and spray on the dye.
Let dry, heat set with an iron. Wash separately for the first time, then hang dry.
If you don’t want to cut your own stencil, here is where you can buy one I made!

I want to make something like this for a fundraising event for work. I think I am going to sew them together to make table runners to match our theme! THANK YOU for the inspiration!
