This week I’m in New York, but as soon as I return, I head out on the Crafty Chica tour – and part of that is a Crafty Chica Trunk Show. In order to have a trunk show, I need merchandise. So this past weekend, I sucked down a few Starbucks Cool Lime Refreshers (my fave), caught a caffeine buzz and designed and sewed up 8 fabric collage messenger bags.
This is how I work: I do everything in batch steps. I used to make hundreds of handmade pieces for retail chains, so I got this whole manufacturing thing down. I timed out my progress for Saturday to make the linings, outer casings and straps. Then the next morning I could work on the hardest part – the front flap. By the time I’m done, each bag has about 20 different components and embellishments.
It’s perfect timing too because September is National Sewing Month!
Here are the bags as far as I could finish by Sunday night. They are done – except for trim and embellishments! I’m so excited to debut them at my trunk show in San Jose (one week from Saturday!) If you live in the San Jose area and want to attend, please RSVP! http://craftychica.eventbrite.com
Woo-Hoo!! I can’t wait! I already registered me & my 2 daughters to attend. And I hope I’ll be able to snag one of your awesome collage bags!
