Happy List

Here are some things I came across recently that I loved so much, I thought I’d share them with you! While all things glue and glitter are my main gig, I draw inspiration from a lot of different avenues. Most of these discoveries were happy accidents, I hope they put a smile on your face too!

1. Spotify Mood Playlists

I truly believe that listening to new music is a way to keep your mind fresh – and your attitude. But how do you discover new music? Enter Spotify’s mood playlists. They are PERFECT for expanding your audible horizons. You can choose by setting (coffeehouse, beach, campfire), or by mood (creativity, romance) or by genre (Bollywood, Spanglish, French pop, etc), and many more. Lots to choose from. My favorite today is Creativity Boost!

2. Stuck in Love

I had a long flight to Ohio last month and on a whim, rented this flick for the plane ride. I had no idea what it was about, except that it looked like a frothy time passer. Turns out, it is about a famous novelist who raises two edgy kids who are also writers. They each have their issues and experiences with love, good and bad, and it all unfolds (bitter)sweetly. Awesome little film, look for it on cable soon!

3. Rum Chata!
Rumchata
We attended a graduation party last weekend, and my sisters-in-law convinced me to try a shot. I had three. Rum Chata is a delightful marriage of rum and horchata, muy tasty! My head is swirling with ideas of what to use it for as soon as I buy a bottle. First I think I’ll pour a shallow pool on a dessert plate and then set a slice of cake on top. Or drizzle it over ice cream or in iced coffee.

4. Fiat 500e

Last week while at iLoveToCreate, I was assigned the new company car to drive for the week – this little Fiat! I’m not saying for you to go out and buy this $32K car, I’m just sharing that I had a blast driving it around town. It’s so compact and sporty. If you have the chance to test drive a model, go for it!

5. Koi® Water Color Field Sketch Travel Kit

Sakura sent me this little watercolor travel kit and I had no idea how much fun it would be! It comes with a little water barrel brush, a wide collection of colors, and fits neatly in your purse. Perfect for in-flight or while your waiting in line for something. No-mess creativity!

6. Spanx Trust Your Thinstincts® Tank

I don’t do bodyshapers anymore. I just can’t hang with them like I used to. But last spring I had a few big speaking engagements and wanted a smoooooth look for my fancy threads. I invested in this tank, and wow, what a game changer! I like that it smoothes me out, it sets around my hips without rolling up (TMI!), and is totally wearable without causing any embarrassing shortness-of-breath incidents. In fact, I wear it every time I go out to eat to make me feel full faster, so it also works as a weight loss tool. Best $60 I’ve spent in a long time! I’m getting one in every color!

7. doTerra Slim & Sassy® Metabolic Blend

Some of my favorite, most healthy respected peeps suggested I try this to add to my lifestyle and I bought a bottle. I’ve tried it once so far, I think I need a few more tries. It’s a mixture of grapefruit, lemon, peppermint, ginger, and cinnamon essential oils. You add a few drops to your water and drink it between meals to manage hunger. I’ll see how it goes and report back!

8. Lastly – Malecifent!

Maya and I went to the early showing Friday night, not knowing what to expect. That’s is the BEST way to see a film – no pre-conceived notions or ideas, just an open mind. We were not disappointed! I don’t want to offer any spoilers, but you’ll be pleasantly surprised at the retelling of the classic Sleeping Beauty tale. It definitely has that Angelina Jolie female empowerment touch. Bring a tissue.
