5 Artful Music Videos for Spring!
By Will Medina, special for CraftyChica.com
Spring is in full swing! This month I wanted to share some songs that come with amazing and artful music videos. Since we’re settled into April, let’s get inspired with these colorful and uplifting tunes. This list is comprised of various artists that will hopefully get you feeling refreshed to start over and get on the right track for the season!
In Your Arms, by Kina Grannis: When I first heard about this music video I had to see it with my own eyes. This entire music video is shot with slow motion photography with the entire background made of jellybeans. This video is definitely exciting with all the individually placed jellybeans along with the playful lyrics Kina sings throughout the song. I really want to make jellybean art after watching this video a few times! More info on Kina: kinagrannis.com
Air Balloon- Lily Allen: Lily Allen has always been known for her playful music and her music videos do not disappoint. When I first heard Air Balloon, I fell in love with the simple, yet fun, lyrics and I had to check out the music video when it debuted. The video is a fun play on her concept of the air balloon and she takes us on a bouncy little ride with her. There’s nothing like flying in an air balloon to bond with Mother Nature. 90’s Music- Kimbra: Take me back to the 90s! In this video, Kimbra takes us on a colorful throwback that is full of 90s spirit – from the clothes to the pop art. I am a 90s baby and this music video feels like I took a time machine back to the good ol’ days. The lyrics are a cheeky play on a tribute to some of the greats in the 90s. My favorite line is “MJ & Mariah, Nirvana & Aaliyah, R. Kelly & Mary Blige, TLC & Left Eye” which definitely brings back memories. I suggest watching this video a few times and you will for sure be inspired a tad bit! More info on Kimbra: kimbramusic.com
Brielle- Sky Sailing: I have to say this video is visually stunning! The artwork throughout the video is so refreshing and the simple lyrics only bring to life the video even more. The lyrics behind this video are very moving because they are about letting go and having a fresh start to something or somewhere. The mastermind behind Sky Sailing is Adam Young who is better known for his other project Owl City. Overall, this video is stunning and the inspiration throughout is very evident right from the start. More info on Sky Sailing: skysailingmusic.com
Me Voy – Juleta Venegas: This was another artist I somehow stumbled across just listening to various artists. Julieta brings her indie flavor to this Spanish-language hit Me Voy, which is about leaving someone but also knowing that you deserve better. She brings a very uplifting and spirited take to the video in which you see her riding on an air balloon through this art-filled world. More info on Juleta: julietavenegas.net

I want to go make some jellybean art, paint, or even make something 90s inspired. Hopefully these songs will leave you feeling refreshed and will spark some inspiration right in time for spring.
