Forget pumpkin spice, let’s add some chile spice to the season with these Spicy Mayan Brownies! There’s nothing quite like the combination of chocolate and a lil’ spice! The ancient Mayans had it right when pairing the two. Today, chocolate has become more sweet and less savory – but the original combination is still the winner!
Here is a great way to easily bring some ancient spice and traditional flavors into a super easy recipe.
What you will need:
Boxed brownie mix. I used dark chocolate mix because I like my chocolate less sweet with more of that bitter kick.
1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1 tbsp crushed Mexican chocolate disc

Mix brownie batter according to packages instructions and add the cayenne pepper, cinnamon and Mexican chocolate.

Mix well so all the dry ingredients are evenly distributed, then add liquids. Spoon into baking pan.

Bake according to package directions.

If you’re looking to add more decadence, drizzle a bit of sweetened condensed milk onto the top of your brownie before baking!

This is such an easy way to add some surprising kick to a really easy boxed recipe. You’ll have people thinking you spent hours concocting this recipe in the kitchen! It will be our spicy secret!
Happy eating!
Provecho,
Jeshua
