Inspiration Friday: Drawing Frida

By Kathy Cano-Murillo, 2015

Drawing Frida – there was a Frida exhibit at the Heard Museum here in Phoenix. I put pen to paper and came up with three new illustrations to celebrate! This one says “Doctor, I promise if you let me have tequila, I promise not to drink at my funeral.”

My inspiration for drawing Frida: Each one starts as a pencil sketch, then I fill it with markers, paint and even fabric. I add other elements after I scan each image into my computer!

I’m always practicing to try and improve my skills. I see it one way in my head, and it always comes out looking different, but that’s ok, that’s how we learn and grow, right?

Anyway, thought I’d share them with you!

Drawing Frida is such a fun way to relieve stress. Even if you are just doodling or coloring in a book, go for it!
