Here are the supplies you’ll need to make this DIY coffee filter wreath Circle wreath base (you can find one at the craft store or make your own from cardboard)

  • Round wreath form (I used MDF from the floral department of the craft store)
  • Coffee filters (around 200, depending on the size of your wreath and desired fullness)
  • Hot glue gun and glue sticks – or white craft glue
  • Ribbon or string for hanging
  • Optional: Paint or dye, decorative elements like faux flowers, berries, or ribbons

Directions for a DIY Coffee filter wreath

Clear your work area and plug in your glue gun or prep your craft glue.

I use Tacky Glue, it is super think so I start by propping it upside so all the glue flows to the tip.

Fluff the Coffee Filters: Take each coffee filter and fluff it up to give it a more three-dimensional shape. You can do this by pinching the center of the filter from the bottom and twisting slightly. I like to fold each filter into quarters. Do this to all of them!

Attach the Coffee Filters to the Wreath Form: Apply a small dab of hot glue to the pointy end of the fluffed coffee filter.

Press it onto the wreath form. Continue this process, placing the filters close together so the wreath looks full and fluffy.

Cover the entire front and sides of the wreath form, but you can leave the back bare if it will be against a wall.

Go all the way around and do a second and third row until it looks big and fluffy!

Check for Gaps: Once you’ve covered the entire form, step back and look for any gaps or areas that may need more filters for a fuller appearance.

Fill in as needed.

Let it dry.

Add Color (Optional): If you want to add color to your wreath, you can gently spray paint or dip-dye the filters before attaching them to the form. If painting, it’s best to do this after the filters are glued to the form for an even application.

Embellish your wreath with decorative elements like faux flowers, berries, ribbons, or any other holiday-specific decorations. These can be glued directly onto the coffee filters.

Add sparkle by pouncing the edges with glue, then sprinkle on glitter. Let dry.

Use a ribbon or a piece of string to create a loop for hanging. Secure this to the back of your wreath with the hot glue.

OTHER IDEAS:

Dip the filters in paint and let dry before you fold them. Then your wreath will be more colorful!

You can also spray paint the edges once it is all put together.

Add crystals or gems.
