Mariachi Flor De Toloache

mariachi-flor-de-toloache

Here’s a way to wake your day – listen to this tiny desk concert by Mariachi Flor De Toloache! I woke up this morning, geared to get my week organized after returning home from an action-packed Craft and Hobby Show. But then my son, DeAngelo, sent me this link and I stopped everything to watch and listen.

Goosebumps! I liked it so much that I thought I’d share it with all of you!

I love mariachi music because it is so pure, no fancy effects or voice runs, just old-fashioned dramatic storytelling. This group is fabulous because they sing in both English and Spanish, and offer a fashionable contemporary twist to the genre. Not to mention they are crazy, crazy, crazy talented.

Here is where you can buy the CD!

Mariachi Flor de Toloache, founded in 2008, was the first and only all-female mariachi founded in New York City. They’ve scored some Latin Grammy nominations, but something tells me that we are going to be seeing and hearing more of this group in 2016. This talented ensemble picked up a lot of national press and accolades last year, and I really hope that continues. I’m doing my part to spread the word!

Ay, ay ayyyyyyyy!!! (That’s my grito in honor of our mariachi love!)
