Mother’s Day Happy List

In need of a COOL Mother’s Day gift guide? One that offers items that she will actually gasp over when she removes the wrapping paper? I gotcha covered! I sat back and thought about the things I’d love to receive.

Wait, let’s back up a second – first and foremost, the BEST gift for your madre is quality time. Take an art class together, go to lunch, the movies, or just go wander about for no reason with no destination. Have conversations that you’ll remember for decades. And to compliment that, you can give her a present too. 🙂

Here are some fun gift ideas for Mother’s Day! I hope you find them as cool as I do!

A personalized pillow with each family member’s birthdate. What a great idea! You can order this or you can make your own version! After looking through Etsy, I foudn this same idea applied to wall art, coffee mugs and more.

Sugar Skull Luggage Set! Wha, what? Yes! These are awesome and I want a set! Here’s a link for green but they come in all colors: IT Luggage Duraliton Skulls and Roses 3 Piece Set, Ultramarine Green, One Size YOU KNOW I would totally paint these with permanent markers, I wouldn’t be able to help myself. I could do it at the airport while I’m waiting to board my flight. The black set is my favorite.

Wisdom! This book, Advice from My 80-Year-Old Self: Real Words of Wisdom from People Ages 7 to 88, is filled with tips from experts (people of all ages!) on living a better life! I think this would be a fun way to sit together and read these out loud, then buy blank journals and create your own books of wisdom. My friend, Denise from Pearmama, actually filled composition books with handwritten wisdom to her kids. The main point is that life experience offers the best wisdom. So if you ever hit a rough patch, think about the takeaway lessons that you can pass along to others.

A family tree living locket from Origami Owl. Anything that is personalized is great, especially with birthstones! Here is where you can build your own special piece for mom! I like this idea because it’s light and easy to incorporate into any outfit. Here is my post about when I visited the OO headquarters. I was really impressed with how much TLC they put into each and every decision they make for the company.

A monthly massage! My daughter bought me two packages from Massage Envy for Christmas and wow, all I can say is, why didn’t I do this sooner? Now I go every month. Not only to Massage Envy but also to a local practitioner, Patricia Federico from My Madre Tierra. I tried my first reiki treatment from her and loved it. If that is too much, you can go with a gift card for a local spa. Mom can choose if she wants a foot massage or a full-on treatment, or maybe just a facial. Let her choose something for her comfort zone! Look for massage places in your city, even look for indie companies to help out a small business!

A coloring book with purpose. You Got This: A Mantra Coloring Book is not just a coloring book with pretty flowers and designs. Each page is a bold affirmation to think about and absorb. Get a copy for you too! Honestly, hyper-busy coloring books stress me out a little, but I like this one because the designs are big and bold and the message is loud and clear! Don’t forget to get markers as well: Crayola 58-7713 Fineline Markers 12 Vibrant Colors with Fine Tips

E-Courses on topics she wants to know more about! Photography? Lettering? Gardening? Business? There are classes for everything and the beauty of online courses is that mom can go at her own pace! Education and knowledge is powerful gift that lasts forever. I feel a lot of teens and millennials lump moms into the “Oh, my mom!” and underestimate them. I’m here to say, moms got it goin’ on, they are way more savvy than younger people give them credit for. I think there is is a class here for every type of woman who wants to devote time to a passion project.

Anything Marimekko at Target.  Total guilty pleasure here. I’m loving the plus-size offerings. I’m going on a cruise soon and for the first time, I actually see a bathing suit combo I can handle. Mix and match some pieces for mom, no matter what her size. And if you don’t want to go the clothing route, they also have home decor, accessories and more all in mega bright patterns and colors. She’ll think you’re cool!

This awesome diffuser for curly hair: Bed Head Curlipops 1875 Watt Diffuser Dryer. BedHead sent a review sample to me to try out and I LOVE IT! It’s perfect for curly hair, no attachment to lose that you have to connect to your blow dryer. This has become my go-to hair tool!

First Mom’s Mug. I came across this on Etsy and thought it was adorable! You can order one from FieldTrip or make your own at your local paint-on-pottery store!

A fancy stylus for her iPad! The Wacom Intuos Creative Stylus 2 (CS600PK) is perfect for the creative mom who likes to doodle or draw on her tablet, draw on her Snapchat images, anything along that line. I have an older version of this and absolutely love it. I use it on my iPad as well as on my Wacom tablet when I’m designing and drawing.
