There are some things you don’t compromise, and for me, laundry is one of them. I’m a diva when it comes to my detergent and fabric softener, I only go with the best. No wiggle room here! If you’ve followed me here long enough, you’ll know I’ve blogged before about my longtime love for Tide® and Downy®. It started in childhood when I helped my mom do the laundry and carried through the routine to adulthood. Tide® PODS™ were a game changer as it was, and now…pause to collect myself…there are Tide® PODS™ + Downy®!
I was so happy to be asked to review the newest member of the Tide family for you guys! Truth is, I had already stocked my laundry shelves with Tide® PODS™ + Downy®, so I already knew I loved them.
Here is the deal with my laundry: I have two sets of clothes: Art studio clothes, and my “for public viewing only” wardrobe. When it comes to my studio clothes, they are often gunked-up with glue, clay dust, glitter and anything you can think of that goes down in a craft room. I need them clean and I need them to be soft and fresh-smelling. Hence the Tide® PODS™ + Downy®laundry ritual.
Now for my “public wardrobe” – these are clothes for my speaking engagements, live stream, and appearances. I’ve invested time and money into these ensembles, not to mention high-priced foundation pieces that suck in all the wobbly bits. Being plus-size, I’m really picky about my clothes, so when I find pieces I love, I absolutely have to take great care of them.
It’s an investment, people!
Here’s what I love about Tide® PODS™ + Downy®. It’s the company’s first detergent packet (three chambers of liquid in each packet) that combines both cleaning and prevention of fading/stretching. It’s also handy because these work on clothing items that normally I wouldn’t use Downy® with, like my fitness clothes. It makes life so much easier that I don’t have to worry about adding my Downy® for my daytime, everyday clothes. But for my nicer pieces, I really want to add that extra layer of anti-aging, fuzzing, stretching protection to my business wear, so I still add the traditional liquid Downy®. The Tide® PODS™ + Downy® can be used in any type of machine, at any water temperature. I always use an extra packet for extra-large loads. Simply place the packet in the machine before you add your clothes.
I put my crafty skills to work and created a bright, cheery, and safe laundry station. We have two shelves above our washer and dryer, and this is where I store my laundry cleaners.
In order to hide my detergent tubs, I embellished a kitchen valance with colorful yarn tassels and then hung a drapery rod along the top shelf. I also decorated a marquee sign to keep me in a good mood while I get through all those loads of whites, brights, sheets, towels, etc. I keep a wireless speaker so I can listen to music while I fold right there on top of the washer.
Here are some safety guidelines to keep in mind! Keep children safe around laundry packets by following this simple rule: Keep Them Up, Keep Them Closed and Keep Them Safe! Never open a packet, they are ready to use as is!
And my favorite laundry tips: Wash like-colors together, hang dry your nice tops, fold clothes as soon as they come out of the dryer otherwise they will pile up. Use a mesh bag for delicates or anything with a tie or drawstring, even scarves.
