15 ideas for DIY candy cane hearts

These DIY candy cane hearts come at the perfect time. If you have leftover candy canes from the holidays, now you can find a new use for them. But you can also use them for Christmas too.

We’re turning them into yummy, minty-fresh hearts. They are like peppermint heart “chips.”

Check out my directions, and then the other versions I found online. You’ll be sweetly inspired by them

Ideas for candy cane hearts

  1. Use for after dinner treats.

2. Place each one in a little cello bag with chocolate kisses.

3. Use them in a candy tray or sweet version of a charcuterie board.

4. Stand them upright as cupcake toppers.

5. Drizzle with melted chocolate.

6. Fill up a glass candy jar with them.

Fun project to make for your upcoming holiday party! These are thin peppermint hearts made from candy canes!

Supplies for candy cane hearts:

Mini candy canes

Cookie sheet

Parchment paper

Heart cookie cutter

Preheat the oven to 300 degrees.

Open the candy canes and place them like a heart on the cookie sheet.

Bake in oven for few minutes until they’ve melted into a thin sheet. Remove from oven (wearing mitts!) and quickly use the cookie cutter to cut into them.

Let cool, then snap away the excess from the cut out design.

  1. What an awesome idea! Since you’re scoring them into hearts, I would imagine that you could use any shape. How many other hard candies will this work for? These would make such a cool addition to my current project of candy jewelry. Thanks for the idea!
