recycled pillow applique

These recycled pillows are the perfect accessory for la artista in your life! I used gorgeous Frida fabric (link below) and cut out the design elements to use as appliques. I bought the pillows on clearance.

How to make Instant appliqué pIllows:

Start with pillows that are already made, you can find these at discount department stores, use what you have, or event he thrift store. Then go through your fabric to find cool areas tho turn into appliqués.

This is the fabric I used. I didn’t have enough to make a full project, so I used the images to make these instant appliques!

Instructions for nstant appliqué pIllows

  1. Check out your pillow and go through your fabric to determine a design for your pillow.

  2. Cut out your design using pinking shears, leave a little halo around the design.

  3. Grab a peel and stick sheet, turn your design over and place the sticky side of the peel and stick sheet on the back of your fabric.

  4. Now, fully cut out your design with the sticky backing attached to it.

Tip: to keep your scissors from getting sticky, put the backing back on the front of the piece so it covers the corners that are sticking out.

  5. Peel off the backing of the adhesive sheet, carefully flip it over, pull it tight and press it into your pillow to keep it from wrinkling.

  6. Using puffy paint outline your piece however you would like.
