I’ve been making a lot of cards with my new die line, most recently this Day of the Dead greeting card! Dia de Los Muertos is coming up November 1st and 2nd and you can make a batch of these cards to give to loved ones to honor those who have passed away. You can include a picture of them inside, or a favorite sentiment.
I used the Sizzix 661311 Thinlits Die, Day of The Dead La Catrina by Crafty Chica
Sizzix 660425 Big Shot Cutting/Embossing Machine with Extended Multipurpose Platform, White/Gray
Ole Fiesta Paper Collection Sabor Papel 12 Inch x 12 Inch Hispanic Heritage 18 Sheets
For the actual card, I always buy boxes of them on clearance because I use them for so many crafts. I also used both dry and wet adhesives and glittered card stock!
OK, I’m getting back to making more cards!

I learned the “gate fold” technique while at the Sizzix headquarters a couple weeks ago. I love the way it really makes the design come alive. One tip – if you use a patterned card, use a solid background behind the actual die design, it will show through better. The card I chose has the cool black and white flowers, but the glittered La Catrina design kinda got lost, even with the glitter. So I lined the flaps with pink and BOOM! Now she pops!
For the inside of the card, I lined it with paper from Sabor Papel, dimensional foam dots and I used the Crafty Chica cling stamps for the sentiment.
What do you think of the card? How would you use it? Let me know if you make any Dia de los Muertos cards, I’d love to see them! Tag me @CraftyChica on social media so I can see!
Love & light,
